So we’re a group of adventurers, Lv2 in 5e DnD, and we hit about the great idea to go shopping before our next outing.
Our GM rolled out a great encounter where some street urchins stole from us and we chased them through the crowded market.
Our Paladin, Orianna, is ¼ giant, wearing plate armor and stands an imposing 6ft10. She’s a wall if ever you’ve seen one. SO the small child trying to steal from her gets her holy symbol but doesn’t make it far enough past her. She rolls a strength check to grab the child. Crits it, the kid is going nowhere. Faced with few other options she decides the following:
Paladin: I don’t want to hurt the child, can I sleeper hold him?
GM: roll a strength check, if you make it and he fails his Dex check to escape then sure.
*this ensues, the Paladin is left holding a choked-out child*
Paladin: this probably looks bad, I’d better try and convince the locals it’s fine!
*She sweeps the child into her arms and utters loudly*
Paladin: There there, poor little tyke has tired himself out
GM: Roll that deception
Paldin: 23! They definitely believe that I’ve just picked up a poor sleepy child!
And that’s how our lawful good paladin choked out a child and got away with it…
